It was rough night all around for the Yankees who went 0-7 with runners in scoring position while Dodgers' right fielder Teoscar Hernandez drove in six runs, including a grand slam. Starter Nestor Cortes was not at his best and a misplay by Alex Verdugo in left field didn't help. To his credit, Verdugo took full ownership of the mistake but also felt the missed opportunities offensively made the 11-3 final score look worse than it was. Manager Aaron Boone wasn't surprised at the large contingent of Dodgers fans, given that the Yankees fanbase also makes their presence felt on the road.

Yankees starter Cody Poteet called the atmosphere at Yankee Stadium "incredible" as he went head to head with Yoshinobu Yamamoto of the Dodgers for nearly five innings. Manager Aaron Boone was impressed with the effort but along with Aaron Judge, also complimented  LA's Yoshinobu Yamamoto for his two-hit seven inning performance. Though the Dodgers would prevail in 11 innings, of greater importance was OF Juan Soto being listed as day to day after an MRI showed revealed only inflammation in his injured elbow.
